Health Educators are learning the Intrinsic Coaching® methodology and making an even bigger impact in the communities in which they serve.  Whether working one to one or in group settings, health educators who learn Intrinsic Coaching® have expanded their ability to work with the whole person to create healthier people and healthier communities.  Because Intrinsic Coaching® enables people to think better about choices, health educators find Intrinsic Coaching® is a more effective, productive, and satisfying way of accomplishing great results for, with, and through people.

Enroll as an individual: View the schedule and enroll in an Intrinsic Coach® Development Series for Health and Wellness professionals by going to http://www.intrinsiccoach.com/english/enroll/. New series start almost every week and meet via teleconference for two consecutive hours a week, once a week, for twelve weeks. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to go into a profession that helps people, and in school they teach you, “okay, this is what people need to do to be healthy and this is what you need to tell them.” I came to Intrinsic Coach® training knowing that people are more successful when they come up with their own solutions, but that’s totally meaningless if I am unable to see people as capable, creative, and complete. I think that’s the biggest thing I will take with me -- to continue viewing people as capable, creative, and complete. I have also learned where and how to see my role as an expert within the coaching or behavior change practice and when to coach and when to lean on my expertise.

Jan Gascoigne, Ph.D., CHES, Director of Health Promotion, The BACCHUS & GAMMA Peer Education Network, Denver, CO

I pay a lot of attention to how I listen because, when I listen like an Intrinsic Coach®, I can understand what the coachee really wants. We can get so wrapped up in people’s problems because it’s easy to talk about them, but we don’t move people forward by doing that. For instance, I had a conversation with someone who had some things she wanted to accomplish but also had a fear that was holding her back. Instead of zooming in on her goal, which is where I wanted to go with the conversation, I let her focus on her problems. As a result, instead of having a conversation that moved her forward, we had a conversation with inherently limited potential. I realize now that there is usually a goal within a problem and what I want to do is find out what that goal is and what the coachee truly wants. I’ve learned that when you listen to your coachee instead of your own internal dialogue, you will ask questions that move the coachee forward, away from thinking about the problem and toward thinking about the solution.
